    Q1: What are the causes of diaper rash?

    The common causes of diaper rash are exposure to friction, excessive hydration, varying pH, and constant contact of the diapered skin with urine and faeces. Fungal and bacterial infections are also thought to be likely causes of diaper rash.

    Q2: What are the signs of diaper rash?

    Signs of diaper rash may include:
    Prolonged periods of crying together with agitation, changes in sleeping patterns, and lower frequency of urination and defecation.
    Depending on the severity of the diaper rash, the surface area of skin redness may vary, and in some cases may appear glossy, bleeding, or some oozing. 
     

    Q3: What is Bepanthen Ointment for?

    Bepanthen Ointment is used for: 
    Prevention & treatment of nappy (diaper) rash
    Caring & treatment of sore/cracked nipples, for breastfeeding mothers
    Dry, chapped and cracked skin
    Minor skin injuries such as minor burns & wounds
     

    Q4: How does Bepanthen work?

    Bepanthen works in a combination of 2 ways: 
    Protection - The ointment dosage form of Bepanthen is able to form a long-lasting breathable barrier protecting against irritants while maintaining skin moisture.
    Gentle healing - Dexpanthenol penetrates deeply into the skin and is converted into pantothenic acid (vitamin B5) which facilitates the natural skin healing process

    Q5: How to Use Bepanthen Ointment?

    Infant care: At each nappy (diaper) change, spread Bepanthen Ointment over your baby’s bottom and groin after cleaning these areas thoroughly with water.

    Nursing mothers: Apply Bepanthen Ointment to the nipples after each breastfeeding. It is recommended to clean the breast before each breastfeeding.

    Damaged skin: Apply once daily or more, as needed.

    Q6: What dosage forms are good for treating diaper rash?

    Here are the key considerations when selecting a product dosage form for prevention and treatment diaper 
    rash where Bepanthen® Ointment scores ALL of the below:
    Proven clinically effective and safe for babies
    Increases natural protection of the skin
    Maintains maximumly the skin moisture level
    Contains ingredients that are listed as safe and useful
    Does not contain unnecessary ingredients

    Q7: How often is Bepanthen Ointment used?

    Bepanthen Ointment do not contain added colorants, fragrances, or preservatives. It may be used as often as needed.

    Q8: Who can safely use Bepanthen Ointment?

    Bepanthen Ointment is a gentle product and do not contain added colorants, fragrances, or preservatives, it is safe for use even by infants. Bepanthen Ointment is for external use only.

    Q9: Is Bepanthen ® ointment suitable for G6PD children?

    Bepanthen Ointment does not contain components which those with G6PD deficiency cannot tolerate. Please consult your healthcare professional for more information.

    Q10: Is Bepanthen Ointment suitable for a child who is suffering from eczema?

    There is no specific information on the usage of Bepanthen Ointment in individuals with eczema. Please consult your doctor or pharmacist for advice.

    Q11: Is it safe to use Bepanthen Ointment on the genital area of infants/children?

    Bepanthen Ointment can be applied externally on skin at the genital/groin area of infants or children to protect against irritants. 

    Q12: Can I use Bepanthen Ointment on other areas of the skin with rashes (e.g. nape of the neck) ?

    Bepanthen Ointment can be used or applied to areas of the skin with rashes brought about by friction or excessive moisture.

    Q13: Can I use Bepanthen Ointment on the face/face of my baby?

    Bepanthen can be used for dry, chapped and cracked skin. It is recommended to apply only a thin layer of Bepanthen Ointment especially on the face, apply when your baby is sleeping and have your baby wear mittens or gloves to avoid accidental ingestion. Please consult your doctor or pharmacist for further information. 

    Q14: What should I do if the rash does not improve after the application with Bepanthen Ointment?

    Mothers/Caregivers are advised to frequently change diapers every 2-3 hours or if the diapers are soiled. Prior to changing the infant, clean the area (genitals & buttocks) with clean water using a soft gentle cloth, avoid rigorous rubbing or excessive use of wet wipes especially if the infant is sensitive to the material. 
    After cleansing, apply Bepanthen Ointment to protect the baby’s skin. If symptoms persist or worsen, please consult your healthcare professional.

    Q15: Can Bepanthen® ointment be used after keeping it for a long time? (if the color turns into obvious yellow and become liquid)

    After using Bepanthen Ointment, close the tube tightly and store it away from heat and out of reach of children. It is advisable to not use Bepanthen Ointment after its expiry date on the packaging. 

    Q16: Is it necessary to apply powder after applying Bepanthen Ointment?

    It is not necessary to apply powder after applying Bepanthen Ointment to the skin.
